The story so far

Hi, I'm Jamie. Drummer, live music obsessive and the person behind Amped Wins.

I started like a lot of us do - banging on pots and pans with wooden spoons, driving my family mad. I finally got my first proper kit at 13, after hearing a neighbour play what I later found out was Blink-182. That was it - I was hooked. When the kit arrived, I was so clueless that i had to get the neighbour round to help set it up because all I had to go on was what I’d seen on MTV.

Music was always in the house too. I’d sit with my parents’ old hi-fi and headphones on, listening to their vinyls - The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, Mike & The Mechanics, Robert Palmer - but the one that really made me fall in love with drums was Dire Straits - Money for Nothing. From there it was constant. Playing along, learning by ear and chasing that feeling you get when a song just clicks.

From bedroom noise to real stages

I ended up forming bands at school then later being in a band that went on to support names like UK Subs, Sham 69 and Stiff Little Fingers. It was hard work at times - rehearsals, lugging gear and long nights but it was also the dream. We recorded EPs at my parents’ house. Full DIY, doing it because we loved it.

Before we could even drive, my Dad was the one doing the runs - car loads of us and our gear, getting us to practice rooms and shows. Looking back, that support is a massive part of why music means so much to me.

Why Amped Wins exists

At some point, life got busy and work took over. I ended up in technical roles, travelling a lot and like many people, playing slipped into the background. But the love for music never went away. And the reality never changed either. Great gear is expensive and too many talented people are held back by money, not ability.

Amped Wins is me building the platform I wish existed when I was starting out:

  • Trust-first prize draws for musicians
  • Premium gear that actually matters (drums, live sound + recording, guitars, experiences and much more).
  • Giveback built in with documented kit donations to schools and music communities as we grow

No hype. No nonsense. Just a platform done properly.
